Commercial Insurance Underwriting Assistant
Busy Independent General Agency is looking for a full time 4-40 licensed individual or 2+ yrs experience on commercial lines insurance for customer service and administrative task. Prior or current experience a definite requirement. Candidate must have an excellent phone voice, excellent communication and computer skills, and a positive attitude. Bi-lingual skills (Spanish/English) are a requirement.
Duties will typically include:
- Quote requests handling
- Rating
- Contacting clients on cancelation lists
- Policy changes and updating policies
- Processing payments
- Scanning sorting and processing electronic files
- Processing renewal
- Processing incoming mail and email
- Providing excellent customer service
- Providing support to underwriting department
- and some other activities related to the job function
- Travel
Requirements:
- Must be 4-40 or have 2+ yrs experience in commercial lines
- Excellent Communication/interpersonal skills with a command of English and Spanish
- Word processing skills are a must
- Confident, self-starter who works well independently is a must
- Must have ability to multi-task and handle heavy work loads and producer’s interaction

Sales / Marketing – Entry Level Sales Position
This role consists of a two year training and development program that will prepare the participant to become a sales professional. The focus of the training program will be increasing new submissions, quotes and premium through the promotion of retail web based and telephone quoting system.
Essential Functions
- Increasing new submissions, quotes and premium by performing the following:
- Conduct 20 sales calls a week to demonstrate web and phone quoting capabilities and setting insurance retailers up on the web and phone quoting system upon successful demonstration. Weekly reporting of sales meetings that occurred each week the reporting of meetings schedule for the upcoming week.
- Timely follow up and continuous communication with customers/prospects to find out and take advantage of additional opportunities.
- Systematic prospecting and arranging meetings with potential new customers, and with customers that have not reached their potential.
- Identify and establish a relationship with key contacts making sure we are doing business with the right people in each retail operation.
- Work with their team to review web activity to spot trends positive and negative and addressing these trends immediately.
- Establish an active relationship with management and regularly discuss strategy and tactics including sales issues, travel and follow up.
Travel
- 80% of time is spent visiting customers
- Occasional overnight travel is required
Education
- College degree or equivalent industry experience
Specific Experience
- Strong oral and written communication skills (Spanish as second language is desirable)
- Strong analytical skills
- Strong organizational skills
- Ability to work independently in a fast paced environment
